Brittany Puppies
Louie
“NFC GFC3 RFC3 RAFC FC Phillips’ Sir Louie Louie We Got To Go Now” is an intense, high-on-both-ends, stylish horseback All-Age Brittany. Louie earned his Field Champion title at 2.5 years old. At 3.5 years, he had completed both his Grand Champion and Regional Champion titles. At 4, he won the American Brittany Club’s Open All-Age Championship. Louie’s pedigree includes notable dogs such as DC AFC The Whiz Kid, NFC FV AFC Shambo’s Dark Shadow (HOF), FC AFC Shady’s Count Kid, and HFC FC AFC Hi Proof Rum Runner (HOF). When we asked Louie’s trainer/handler, Scott Johnson, to describe Louie he said Louie is “the real deal” and he wishes there were more like him.
Teal
“Osage Prairie Teal” is a fly-around, hard-hunting, and classy 35 lb Brittany that stands almost 20 inches at the shoulder. She has a lot of go and a beautiful gait that aids her endurance. She was bred and raised here at Smith Kennels. Her sire is DC NGDC GFC AFC Hope’s Chief of Crosscreek (“Chief”). Her dam is Osage Prairie White Oak, a daughter of our own Tall Chief of the Osage (“Chief”). She “goes with you” very nicely in the field. She has a strong work ethic, a personality that is easy to work with, and is consistent on birds.

Puppy Selection & Placement Philosophy
We place a strong emphasis on thoughtful puppy placement to ensure long-term success for both the puppy and the family.
Puppies are not assigned strictly by deposit order. Instead, the breeder will guide, and when appropriate, make the final decision, on which puppy goes to each home. This approach allows us to carefully match each puppy’s developing temperament, drive, confidence, and maturity with the goals, experience level, and lifestyle of its future owner.
Placement preference is given to owners who are:
Dedicated bird hunters
Field trialers
Able to provide appropriate training and hunting opportunities for a big-running dog
These pups are bred to be athletic and prey-driven bird dogs with the range and drive to cover ground. While they should make excellent companions, these are not expected to be close-ranging or low-energy dogs and are best suited for active, working hunting homes.
Final puppy selections will be made just before puppies begin going to their new homes, once individual personalities are more clearly established. Throughout this process, we work closely with each approved family, welcome discussion of preferences, and aim to place each puppy where it has the best opportunity to thrive.
Our goal is not simply to place puppies, but to place them in homes where both owner and dog will be happy and successful.
