Cowboy x Teal Litter
Cowboy
“Northern Osage Cowboy” is an intense, high-on-both-ends, stylish Brittany. We purchased Cowboy from Northern Star Brittanys as a pup and raised and trained him. Cowboy is a son of FC AFC Kid’s Royal Casey and a grandson of NAFC DC AFC Renegade’s Kansas Kid. His grandsire on the bottom side is Windswept’s Clay Bullet, a littermate to Nolan’s Last Bullet. Cowboy has always been an intense dog with a lot of drive. He was easy to train and is very honest on game. Cowboy is about a 38 lb Brittany. He ranges around 75-100 yds depending on the terrain and cover.
Teal
“Osage Prairie Teal” is a fly-around, high prey drive, and classy 35 lb Brittany. She is a hard hunting dog with a lot of go and a beautiful gait. She was bred and raised here at Smith Kennels. Her sire is DC NGDC GFC AFC Hope’s Chief of Crosscreek (“Chief”). Her dam is Osage Prairie White Oak, a daughter of our own Tall Chief of the Osage (“Chief”). Teal’s range will average 75-100 yards. She “goes with you” very nicely in the field. She has a strong work ethic, a personality that is easy to work with, and is consistent on birds.
No Puppies Available at This Time
Puppy Pick Ups Will be Scheduled December 6-12, 2024
Cowboy and Teal’s liter of 7 females and 1 male was born on October 14, 2024. They will be 8 weeks old on December 9th.
In the coming weeks we will be spending a lot of time with the puppies, concentrating on their socialization and development. The litter will go through the Super Puppy Program. They will be introduced to new sensory experiences throughout their time with us. When they are big enough, we will begin taking puppy walks in our fields with the entire litter, imprinting them with the concept of going with us in the field and navigating different terrain. We will be getting the pups accustomed to coming when called “Here Pup” or whistled to. The housebreaking training will be started. Our puppy room is set up to facilitate an early potty training and by pick up time the pups will be using a dog door to go outside and a potty tray when they are inside. As opportunity presents itself, they will be introduced to pigeons and quail. We will be spending an immense amount of time with these pups and plan to add photos and video to this page as the pups develop.
Puppy pick ups will be scheduled to take place December 6 -12, 2024. Any travel arrangements and cost will be the responsibility of the buyer. At the time of pickup the puppies will be up-to-date on all vaccinations and deworming. Their AKC registration is pre-paid by us and ownership transfer will take place at pick up.
We work hard to ensure that our puppies go to homes that are a good fit for them. Preference will be given to homes that are able to properly develop, provide structure, training, and hunting opportunities. Our dogs are great companions, but they also have drive and a desire to be active in the hunting field. These puppies’ parents are athletes and not couch potatoes. These puppies will be available to hunting homes and will not be placed solely as pets.
Because it is so important to us that our puppies be placed in homes that are a good match for their personality and needs, we do not select matches on a first-come, first-served basis. Rather we guide each prospective owner to a puppy most likely to fit their lifestyle and goals. We work hard to ensure everyone’s happiness and ensure that we never send the hardest charging, biggest running, most athletic dogs to homes that are looking more for a more calm, easy going, short ranged dog.
Our puppies are in high demand and we will do our best to facilitate everybody we can. We do plan to have some more great litters in 2025, so if you don't get a puppy out of this litter we would like to find you a good match in a future litter.
